How to automatically take full page screenshots of BBC news pages

Learn how to schedule automated full page screenshots of BBC news using the PagePixels web app.

Introduction

Prerequisites

Before you start, you'll need:

  • A PagePixels account.
  • A link to the BBC news page you want to screenshot. For example: https://www.bbc.com/news

How to take full page screenshots of BBC news pages

To take hourly scheduled screenshots of the BBC News page:

Create a screenshot

Log in to your PagePixels account, and click the +Create Screenshot button.

Set your schedule

By default, recurring screenshots are set to every 5 minutes.

For an hourly screenshot, use the input and drop-down fields to change the default values to: 1 Hours

TIP: To schedule screenshots by days of the week, time of day, and time zone -> Click the blue Advanced Scheduling option.

Add URL

Copy and paste the BBC news page link into the Website URL to Capture field.

For example: https://www.bbc.com/news

Check Full Page Advanced

Scroll to the Page Setup section. Tick the Full Page Advanced checkbox.

The Full Page Advanced option uses an advanced algorithm to trigger lazy loaded content (i.e. images on BBC's website) and capture the entire web page.

Check No Ads

Scroll to the Ads, Tracking, and Javascript section. Select the No Ads option.

Save Screenshot

Click the green Save Screenshot button (top-right).

Your screenshot automation is officially set, and your first BBC news screenshot will be taken shortly.
